Final Fantasy VII Ultima PC Edition

Genre: Fantasy RPG (PC) Publisher: Eidos
Developer: Squaresoft Release Date: May 31, 98 [North America]

Most of the background can be easily found elsewhere. Suffice it to say that at the beginning of the game, you find yourself in the shoes of Cloud, a mercenary currently in the employ of AVALANCHE (yes, that really is the name, and no, I don't know what it's an acronym for).
Said AVALANCHE is a small group of freedom fighters/terrorists who aim to overturn the mighty Shinra corporation, which provides power to the planet by sucking Mako energy out of its core (no, you aren't supposed to know what Mako is at this point). Cloud, being a proper mercenary, only cares about his paycheck and not the mission of the group. At least for the first fifteen minutes, that is, until he is pulled into the type of plot which past fans of Final Fantasy have come to know and love: twisting and turning, although sometimes rather cliched in a fun and not too annoying way
